Is It Wrong To JUDGE?
One of the most MISUSED scriptures in the bible would be this one where the Savior says, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged”.
Mat 7:1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
The Savior was speaking to HYPOCRITES! He was saying not to tell others how to live if you yourself are not doing a same! YAHUSHUA warns against judging someone else for his sin when you yourself are sinning even worse.
Mat 7:2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
Mat 7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?
Mat 7:5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.
Also what they fail to remember is the rest of the chapter that follows exhorts us to beware of evildoers and false prophets and to avoid those who practice all kinds of evil. How are we to discern who these people are if we do not make some kind of judgment about them? If you are born of the spirit you are to judge all things!
Mal 3:18 Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth Elohim and him that serveth him not.
1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
Heb 5:14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
BELIEVERS are often accused of "JUDGING" whenever they speak out against a sinful activity. However, that is not the meaning of the Scripture that states, "Do not judge." There is a righteous kind of judgment we are supposed to exercise with careful discernment.
Mat 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
If a believer sees another believer sinning, it is his duty to lovingly and respectfully confront the person with his sin.
Mat 18:15 Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
Mat 18:16 But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
This is not judging, but rather pointing out the truth in hope—and with the ultimate goal of bringing repentance in the other person and restoration to the fellowship.
Jas 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
We are to speak the truth in love. We are to proclaim what
YHWH's Word says about sin.
Eph 4:15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even the Messiah:
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Joh 14:6 Yahushua saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
We are to "JUDGE" sin, but always with the goal of presenting the solution for sin and its Yahushua!
